2012 Park Forest Community Garden Kick-Off Meeting to Be Held March 22

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—March 17, 2012.  The Park Forest Environment Commission will be hosting the kick-off meeting for the 2012 Community Garden Project on Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive.

The purpose of this meeting will be to:

  • Discuss administrative and reimbursement issues related to those gardening groups that will be using Village-owned property;
  • Discuss strategies for planning your community garden;
  • Solicit volunteers for additional projects such as building, fund-raising, art projects, etc.; and
  • Discuss 2013 grant opportunities for community gardens.

If you want to garden but do not have a group, we’ll help you find one.  If you still want to garden on a Village-owned lot, there is still time to pick one.  And if you want to garden on your church, school, or other privately owned property, join us and we’ll help you get started.

If you have any questions about the project, please call Rosemary Piser from the Environment Commission at 708-747-1991.
