ACCESS Family Health Society to Hold Summer Community Health Fair on August 15

CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—August 10, 2015. In recognition of National Health Center Week, ACCESS Family Health Society invites the entire community to stop by ACCESS’ Family Health Society Summer Community Health Fair, featuring honored guest U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly. The fair will be held on Saturday, August 15th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 152 W. Lincoln Highway in Chicago Heights.

We invite parents to come and prepare their children for the upcoming school year with back-to-school physicals, provided by ACCESS. Children will receive free school supplies, including backpacks (while quantities last); face painting; and free food and entertainment. Adults can also receive free blood pressure and BMI screenings, as well as depression and anxiety screenings. There will be dental screenings from ACCESS partner Sonrisa Family Dental. ACCESS’ Risk and Prevention team members will provide HIV/AIDS education and referrals.

Women will be able to get breast health information and referrals for regular Pap smears and mammograms through the state of Illinois’ STAND Program. ACCESS benefits specialists will be on hand to enroll new patients into Medicaid and Affordable Care Act insurance plans. Parents are advised to bring immunization records and medical cards to assist in their children’s enrollments.

Rep. Kelly’s office will have a tent onsite, where information on important community resources will be provided.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository will provide nutrition information and a cooking demonstration. Eligible community members can sign up with Life Wireless for free government phones.
