Activist Groups to Rally On Thursday, January 26, to Defend and Expand Sanctuary for All Chicagoans

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–January 25, 2017. On Thursday, January 26 beginning at 1 p.m. at Chicago’s City Hall, 121 North LaSalle Street, community groups will rally together to tell Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago city council to stand up to Donald Trump and take action that doesn’t just symbolically defend immigrants, but transforms our city’s policies to stop targeting Black, Latinx, migrant and other residents for imprisonment, risk of removal, and state violence at the hands of police and aggressive immigration agents.

In 2017, it’s the efforts to defend Black lives and protect migrant rights that make our cities safer, not Trump’s extra enforcement promises.

Join Organized Communities Against Deportation (OCAD), Mijente, BYP 100, and others to push Chicago to expand its sanctuary and transform its policies.
