School News

School starts next month and Center on Halsted is already helping students get ready. The Youth Ready Chicago Community Council is hosting its annual After School Enrollment Fair on September 17 at North Park University, where young people (ages 6-24) and their families can connect to resources and information about after-school and out-of-school programs. We’ll have school supply giveaways, snacks and an opportunity for more people to experience the great programs Center on Halsted and our partners have to offer. Building a Safer and More Inclusive Community

In response to violent incidents in Lakeview this summer and the subsequent community dialogue, we increased our ongoing efforts to build a welcoming neighborhood. We invited various community leaders and residents to form the Lakeview Safety & Inclusion Coalition. Our express purpose is to bring different voices to the table to design and implement collaborative, productive and concrete solutions to help make Lakeview a safer and more inclusive community for all. Our work is just getting started and if you have ideas, we want to hear from you.
