Center on Halsted Launches New Youth Mentorship Program

Chicago, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Center on Halsted will officially unveil its new Youth Mentorship Program this April.

The Youth Mentorship Program will pair LGBTQ youth—aged 13 to 18—with adult mentors who have similar interests, hobbies and professional goals.  Mentors will share their experiences as productive members of the LGBT community; provide professional and educational guidance and more.

Mentors have undergone a ten-week training to prepare thoroughly for the mentorship experience.  All mentors were chosen on their basis to serve as positive role models for LGBT youth.

Any person seeking more information about the Youth Mentorship Program should attend the program information orientation on April 14th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.  Those interested in participating should contact Val Newman, Center on Halsted Youth Program Clinical Supervisor, by phone at (773) 472-6469 x 227 or via email at [email protected].

Youth interested in participating must be between the ages of 13 and 18, identify as LGBT or questioning, have parental consent and live in the Chicagoland area.  All participants must be willing to participate in the program for 1 year.

Center on Halsted is the Midwest’s largest LGBT community center, providing a diverse and comprehensive array of social services and public programs.  In a safe and nurturing environment, Center on Halsted serves as a catalyst for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community that links and provides community resources and enriches life experiences.
