CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—April 30, 2015 — On Friday, May 1 at 8:30am, a group of elementary school students, their parents, teachers and supporters will gather at the Polonia Triangle (Polish Triangle) at the intersection of Ashland, Milwaukee and Division for a rally in solidarity with Freddie Gray and the people of Baltimore.
Organizers with the Chicago Unity Coalition for Justice call supporters of all ages to gather in protest of the systematic police brutality of Black women and men which goes unchecked and unpunished across the nation.
“Our voices protest the killings of Freddie Gray, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Rekia Boyd and hundreds of others who have died at the hands of police,” say organizers of the rally.
The Chicago Unity Coalition for Justice organized a December 12, 2014 Black Lives Matter protest at the same location where they held a die-in and marched around the fountain (photo/video via Progress Illinois: http://bit.ly/1zeQYUr), as well as other demonstrations.
The Chicago Unity Coalition for Justice began as a parent organization with a common passion, fighting for social justice. Including their children, of all ages, empowered them to recognize that young people have a voice and an opportunity to shape the world they will inherit. The group has continued to grow and remains active in the struggle against police brutality against the communities they are sworn to protect.
