Desk-Bound? Can’t Make a Call? Still Want to Protest?

NEW YORK–(ENEWSPF)–February 3, 2017

Drop-down list of hotels from the website…

I work at a desk all day. I can’t use the work computer for personal or political purposes, and I certainly can’t use the phone. I do have my laptop with me. I have already called everyone I can think of on my personal cell, but of course still can’t register my horror at this sh**show of an administration on the White House comment line.

On a break this morning I saw email from a friend who said that people who can’t get through to the White House because the call-in comment line still isn’t connected* are now calling Trump Hotels to lodge a protest. Per that piece:

The hope, though, is that the influx of calls will send a message to Trump that listening to the people wasn’t a campaign promise we’ve forgotten about.

So it occurred to me that we could further increase the influx of messaging by sending emails to the reservation lines at his hotels around the world. Triaging those emails while still taking care to catch the REAL messages from hotel guests will eat up staff time. That’s something that impacts business, which is something the president* might actually care about (despite, you know, having divested and set up that bigly ethical blind trust, and all… /s).

So I cruised over to https://www.trumphotels.com/contact-us, selected the first name in the drop-down list of properties, and entered this (lightly cribbed from something Keith Ellison said recently):

Dear Member of Trump Hotels Staff:

Since Donald Trump has not re-instated the White House call-in comment line, I thought I would drop his hotels a note to register my vehement rejection of and disgust at the travel ban on persons wishing to enter the USA from 7 majority-Muslim nations.

Mr. Trump must understand that this is a religiously based ban!  It is un-Constitutional!  Our Constitution says Congress shall make no law establishing a religion or abridge the free exercise thereof.  This is a violation of equal protection.  It’s a religiously based ban.  If the cabal in his White House thinks they can ban Muslims, why can’t they ban Buddhists?  Or Mormons?  Or Seventh-day Adventists?  Or atheists?  Or members of a specific ethnic group?

This is outrageous. The majority of Americans are horrified and terrified, and we will stand in resistance to this horrific departure from the American ideals of freedom and religious liberty that we cherish.  We will not stop raising our voices in righteous protest until the president makes an IMMEDIATE course correction, or is impeached.

Thank you for your time.

Cordially,

Then lather, rinse, repeat for the remainder of the list!

You’d write your own letter, of course. Or feel free to borrow mine.

Whaddya think? Worth 47 seconds of your time? I think every little action helps, and if enough of us send emails to the hotels… well, it might be a bigger action! #Resist!

* No, per snopes.com it wasn’t malevolently disconnected by the new administration…
