Washington, D.C.-(ENEWSPF)- The policy making body of the American Psychological Association (APA) unanimously (157-0) passed a resolution supporting full marriage equality for same-sex couples. Reacting to this important move, Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese made the following statement:
“The American Psychological Association has long supported equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community based on scientific reasoning and a concern for the well-being of all people. The unanimous passage of a resolution in support of full marriage equality shows once again that equality under the law is not only inherently right, but will also benefit the health of LGBT Americans. Marriage equality will strengthen families, and in doing so, will make for stable communities.”
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
