Park Forest Readies Stage for Main Street Nights 2010

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Grab a blanket, pack a snack and position yourself in the Park Forest Downtown Village Green (Cunningham and Main Streets) for seven FREE nights of entertainment.

Rain or Shine!

Performances last approximately 45-60 minutes. In case of rain, performances will be moved to Freedom Hall, 410 Lakewood Boulevard. Call our recorded message at 283-5647 for weather related changes or cancellations. For additional information, call the Recreation office at 748-2005.

Wednesday, June 23

7 p.m. – Fieldcrest
Local Downtown talent from Fieldcrest School of Performing Arts kicks off the evening showcasing the best from their 2010 performance.

7:30 p.m. – Park Forest Idols
The top finalists from the 1st Annual Park Forest Idol Contest share their talent!

8 p.m. – 7th Heaven
Featuring recent Chicago American Idol gold-ticket winner Keith Semple, who also was winner of the British TV version of American Idol known as Pop Stars. The Beatles, Bon Jovi, Journey, U2 and original material are delivered at a frenetic pace driving audiences to literally be dancing in the streets. This is the band your neighbors will be buzzing about for the rest of the summer. You’ll remember the experience of seeing and hearing them now because, as their song says – THIS SUMMER’S GONNA LAST FOREVER

R-Gang

7 p.m. – Chicago Boyz Acrobats
The Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team is a professional gymnastics troupe consisting of talented young men and boys from the Chicagoland area. The show includes stunts and tricks inside twirling jump ropes, catapulting off mini trampolines and thundering tumbling routines with incredible timing.

7:45 p.m. – R-Gang
R-Gang combines musical expertise and showmanship while playing R & B music from the Motown era through the ‘90’s. Voted Suburban Nitelife Magazines’ Best  R & B band in Chicagoland. 

Wednesday, July 7

7 p.m. – Spear-It Drum & Dance Troupe
Enjoy the vibrant music, dance and costumes of this troupe performing non-traditional African and Middle-Eastern inspired rhythms with American influence.

7:20 p.m. Rich East Drumline
The night is hot and the beat is hotter as the percussion section of the Rich East Band gets your mojo working!

7:45 p.m. – Muzicnet
The talented musicians of Park Forest’s very own MuzicNet will perform smooth jazz, Blues and Gospel.

7 p.m. Ken Schultz
The "Flying Fool" has been dazzling audiences. with his time tested, clean &  positive fun that will not offend.  Ken uses a symphony of juggling, physical comedy, humor and improvisation. Stunts of fire-eating, bowling ball juggling, and balancing an 8 ft. table on his chin. The comic Ken uses his elastic, comedic face to paint a permanent smile on the faces of everyone!

7:45 p.m. – Creole Stomp
Creole Stomp, brings the excitement of Louisiana Creole, Cajun  and Zydeco music to stages across North America. Traditional Louisiana Cajun two-step, reels and waltzes sizzle in the stew along with Creole blues, mazurkas and zydecos.

Wednesday, July 21

7 p.m. – DISC DOGS A 2 Z
Ed Jakubowski and his canine teammates have been top competitors as well as premier showstoppers, entertaining audiences with the best in K-9 Disc Entertainment!

7:45 p.m. –Dave Rudolf
Want to hear some Jimmy Buffet, Harry Belafonte, the Beatles…or something from Dave’s newest CD release? The multi-award winning musician brings fun in the sun with his wacky and interactive show for kids of all ages!

7 p.m. – Cold Blooded Creatures
Back by popular demand! Jim Nesci entertains while educating the audience about reptiles. See and touch 4 types of reptilians.

7:45 p.m. – Guitarra Azul
Guitarra Azul is an exciting blend of Rumba, Flamenco, Latin Jazz, and World Sounds, with intoxicating Latin percussion & fiery Spanish guitars. Featuring their own original compositions as well as the familiar music of world artists like Gypsy Kings, Ottmar Liebert, Santana and other pop groups.

Wednesday, Aug. 4

7 p.m. – Soda
Refreshing and new! Soda captures the heart and soul of one of the most diverse playlists. From Johnny Cash to Dave Matthews, from Styx to John Mayer, this band can do it all!

Dusk – “Up” Movie
By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn’t alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip!
