Alsip, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Recently Melanie Jones, Director of Advancement & Communications for Sertoma Centre, Inc. was offered a motorized wheelchair by Dennis Dureno, a well respected member of the Sertoma Operating Board. Melanie sprang into action sending notices to the Sertoma Centre program managers and supervisors, asking them if there were any individuals that were in need of a motorized wheelchair. Very quickly she received the first response.  There was a family with two sons, both with cerebral palsy.  One son already had a chair but they needed another chair.

Immediately following that first request came several more from other program managers, each in need of a motorized wheelchair.  Ms. Jones speaks of the mixed emotions her job sometimes brings her,   “I was so happy to tell one family that they would receive this chair, yet I was saddened because I would have to disappoint so many other individuals that would have benefitted greatly from the donation of a wheelchair.”

If you have a used motorized wheelchair that you no longer need and you would like to help, won’t you please contact Melanie Jones, at 708-730-6206 or email: [email protected]. Donating a wheelchair is a great way to recycle your chair and at the same time help a person with a disability.
