Rep. DeLuca Urges Local Residents to Submit Nominations for Good Neighbor Business of the Year Awards

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL–(ENEWSPF)–November 21, 2009.  To honor the important role local businesses play in improving the quality of life in the Southland, State Representative Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights) announced that he is now accepting nominations for his newly-created Good Neighbor Business of the Year Award.

“Oftentimes, the good work and the many other kinds of important  contributions that area businesses do in our community go unnoticed,” DeLuca said.  “The Southland hosts many exemplary businesses and it is time to give recognition to those who go above and beyond what their job asks them to do.”

DeLuca says many business owners and employees donate time and financial resources to numerous charitable organizations throughout the area or give a financially-struggling customer a break.

DeLuca’s office will review the nominations and will announce the nominated businesses and a winner in March.  The winners will be selected by members of DeLuca’s 15-member Economic Development Advisory panel.

“As we approach the holiday season and have time to reflect on the year in these few waning days, I encourage local residents to reflect on the some of the extra efforts many businesses put forth, ” DeLuca added.  “Small businesses do a lot to make our community a better place to live and I think that we should begin recognizing the important roles they play in our community.  I encourage anyone who knows of a business that has made a significant difference or has provided consumers with a memorable experience to nominate them for this award.”

DeLuca’s 80th District includes all or parts of Chicago Heights, South Chicago Heights, Steger, Sauk Village, Bloom Township, Crete, Crete Township, Beecher, Washington Township, University Park, Park Forest, Olympia Fields, Flossmoor, Rich Township, Homewood, Glenwood, Lansing, Thornton Township, and Lynwood.
