Rep. Robin Kelly Sponsors 2015 Congressional Art Contest for High School Students


Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—February 24, 2015. U.S. Representative Robin Kelly is sponsoring an annual Congressional Art Competition open to high school students residing or attending a school within the Second Congressional District. The winner will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony in Washington D.C. this summer and their artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Students can submit their artwork from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rep. Kelly’s district office, located at 600 Holiday Plaza Drive, Suite 505, Matteson. The deadline for submissions is March 31 at 4 p.m.

Artwork must be two dimensional, framed no larger than 28” x 28” x 4” and can include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photographs, computer generated art, or mixed media.  All artwork must be original.

Congresswoman Kelly will host a reception where she will announce the winner and runners-up on April 18,beginning at 11 a.m., at Prairie State College’s Christopher Art Gallery in Chicago Heights.

The high school art competition was established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 to acknowledge and support the artistic talent of America’s young adults.
