Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Kankakee resident Lionel Thomas, Sr., was presented with a commendation at Monday night’s meeting of the Village Board. Mr. Thomas stopped to assist an employee of the Park Forest Tennis & Health Center who had slipped on a patch of ice on the side walk.

The citation honoring Mr. Thomas follows:

Mr. Thomas travels Westwood Drive passing the Park Forest Tennis & Health Club each day at about 6 a.m. At the same time Mrs. Raymunda Warkenthien is reporting to her front counter job at the Club. On a snowy and icy day in December of 2011, as Mrs. Warkentien walked from the parking lot to the front door, she fell on an icy patch and seriously injured her ankle. As Mr. Thomas passed the Club, he observed Raye sitting on the ground. He stopped, backed up and inquired if she needed help. When he learned that she could not get up, he brought his car close and lifted her into it. He drove her to the front door and literally carried her into the lobby and placed her onto the front counter while a co-worker was found. This conscientious concern for another person is admirable and deserving of this recognition.
