South Suburban Jackson Hewitt Lends-A-Hand

Steger, IL–(ENEWSPF)– This past holiday season, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service selected Algonquin Primary Center, Park Forest, as recipients of their “We Care-Outer Wear” program. The community outreach program provides winter hats and gloves for every student enrolled in the school. The program is one of several programs Jackson Hewitt established to give back to the communities it serves.

Algonquin Primary Center was also selected to participate in the Lend-A-Hand program. The program assists non-profits, educational, charitable and faith-based organizations with their fundraising efforts. By providing discounted coupons for tax preparation services to their network, the organization receives $25.00 for every coupon redeemed at a participating location.

“We see this partnership as a win-win-win” said Kimberly Simmons, manager of the Steger Jackson Hewitt. The organization wins, the taxpayer wins, and Jackson Hewitt wins. Our office has established Lend-A-Hand partnerships with several local organizations,” Simmons said. “With some decrease in corporate, foundation, and governmental funding, our program can help these organizations and educational systems when they need it most.”

Jackson Hewitt has partnered with Governors State University’s Career Services for its third year to provide internships for accounting students. After successfully completing a basic income tax course with 85% or better and other mandatory training, interns are hired to work with the company during the tax season. Interns receive college credits and develop transferrable skills as a result of participating in the program. This year the company is employing eight interns.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service is the second largest professional tax preparation company in the nation with over 6,600 locations. South suburban offices are located in Richton Park, Olympia Fields, Matteson, Sauk Village, Steger, and Tinley Park.
