Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- "Step Back into a 1950s Christmas," exhibit will be on display at the 1950s Park Forest House Museum, at 141 Forest Blvd, open Wednesdays and Saturdays in December from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or by appointment, if possible. The special admission/donation for December is $3.00 for adults; 12 and under are free. The museum tour is free with the purchase of a Marshall Field’s Brick. A selection of gifts is on sale in the museum and its online store at www.parkforesthistory.org.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of 21st Century holiday preparations to spend some quality time getting a good dose of Holiday Nostalgia in this gem of a museum just down the street. Decorations from the 1950s are in every room. The museum features a musical forest green, aluminum, rotating tree–a Brillliant Noble Fir, made by the C. Sincere Company in Chicago, decorated with mid-century modern ornaments. Gurley Candles and Rosbro plastic figurines are also on display.
Bricks from Marshall Field’s Park Forest store, prints of Annabelle Gould’s painting of the Park Forest Plaza and Holiday Theater and the books, Gregory Randall’s America’s Original GI Town, Amy Peele’s Aunt Mary’s Guide to Raising Children the Old-fashioned Way, and Jerry Shnay’s Park Forest Dreams and Challenges are among gift ideas for sale at the museum.
