Unitarian Universalist Community Church to Screen Documentary Film ‘Hot Coffee’ on Friday, September 25

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—September 13, 2015. The Unitarian Universalist Community Church (UUCC), 70 Sycamore Drive, Park Forest, will host the screening of the documentary film ‘Hot Coffee’ on Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. A discussion will follow the screening.

Have you heard about the case of the woman who sued McDonald’s over spilled coffee, often cited as an example of citizens who use ‘frivolous’ lawsuits to take unfair advantage of the America legal system? ‘Hot Coffee’ is an eye-opening documentary that exposes how corporations spend millions of dollars on propaganda campaigns to distort our views of lawsuits – forever weakening our civil justice system. By examining the impact of tort reform on the lives of ordinary citizens, the film shows how Americans give up their Constitutional rights I many ways without knowing it – for example by voting for caps on damages or signing away their rights in contracts. A very interesting and illuminating film.

Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. Bring a snack to share if you wish.

The event is free and open to the public.
