Volunteers Needed for ME4E National Public Lands Day Event in Park Forest

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—September 16, 2010.  ME4E will host a National Public Lands Day (NPLD) event on Thursday, September 23rd as part of a national initiative.  Over 170,000 volunteers will visit their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves or forests and chip in to help improve these treasured places.  The NPLD is the largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands in the United States.

For the twelfth consecutive year, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. is the event’s national corporate sponsor.  Northrop Grumman has joined as a corporate sponsor again this year.  Nine federal agencies will participate along with over 250 state, county and city partners and a host of nonprofit groups, including the Boy Scots of America, the Girl Scouts of USA, Student Conservation Association, and the Corps Network.  The National Environmental Education Foundation coordinates NPLD.

ME4E is looking for volunteers for their NPLD event to help weed the rain garden, clean the park and test the wetland water.  Volunteers will meet on September 23rd at the Park Forest Aqua Center’s Wetlands Discovery Center, 30 N. Orchard, at 2 p.m.

For additional information, or to notify ME4E that you can volunteer, send an e-mail to [email protected] or visit the event page at www.Facebook.com/ME4E.org.
