Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Police quickly caught up with a Richton Park man early Saturday morning who left a house in Park Forest after he allegedly threatened a family member with a knife.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of New Salem shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance involving a knife. While responding, a SouthCom dispatcher advised the officers that the alleged offender, Kevin Brown, 36, 3901 Tower Dr. #306-B, Richton Park, allegedly threatened a relative with a knife. Police were also told hat he may have put the knife down as he was leaving the house. As Corporal Tellous Boulden arrived on the scene, he saw an automobile leaving from in front of the residence. Booulden activated the emergency lights on his police vehicle and stopped the car. The driver identified himself as Kevin Brown. He was taken into custody.

Police interviewed the alleged victim, who stated that she was in the bathroom cleaning the bathtub when Brown entered the bathroom, closing the door behind him. The victim said she repeatedly told Brown to leave the bathroom and the house, but he refused. According to the victim, Brown did not say anything, but allegedly removed a steak knife from his left pants pocket and began to point the knife and wave it at her in a threatening manner, according to police. She said she thought that she was in danger of being hurt by Brown, according to police. Another relative who was at the house forced the bathroom door open, pushed past Kevin Brown, and positioned himself between Brown and the alleged victim.

The victim reported that the man told Brown to put the knife down, and would have to "go through" him to get to the alleged victim.

The victim stated that Brown then turned around, allegedly stabbing the bathroom wall with the knife, leaving the knife sticking from the wall. He then walked out of the bathroom to the kitchen, where he allegedly flipped the kitchen table over before walking out of the house.

Police recovered the knife and placed it into evidence.
