Marian Catholic High School Awards 67 Academic Letters for 4.0 GPAs

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Marian Catholic High School awarded 67 Academic Letters to sophomores, juniors, seniors and 2015 grads at the annual Academic Letter Breakfast on Oct. 27. The Academic Letter is awarded to a student who receives 4.0 or higher grade-point average in two consecutive semesters.

Current senior recipients included Benjamin Bokun (Schererville), Brianna Herard-Lyon (Calumet City), Timon Lyander (Hazel Crest), Kristopher Menghi (Dyer), Matthew Mulhearn (Chicago Heights), Julia Rivero (Crete),    Alexis Wallace (Crown Point), Amy Wegrzyn (Chicago Heights), and Yibin Yang (Matteson).

Junior class honorees were Brian Blewitt (Crete), Cruz Castillo (Sauk Village), Keyara Hampton (Park Forest), Arika Johnson (Chicago), Kyle Johnson (Homewood), Zaria Kangethe (Matteson), Erin Lyons (Munster), Amira Marvel (Matteson), Kelly Mindak (St. John), Darius Moore (Richton Park), Ryan Napue (Richton Park), Sydney Reyes (Olympia Fields), Bailey Rice (St. John), and Karina Urbina (Lansing).

Class of 2015 awardees included Mary Blewitt, Shelby Chaney, Hope Lang, Debra Miller, Payton Millhouse, Adrian Milos, Killian McDonald and Stephanie Wallace-Teliz.

“We are pleased to honor students who have earned a grade point average of 4.0 and above for two consecutive semesters,” said Dr. Shirley Morris, Assistant Principal of Academics. “It is evident by their stellar performance that these students are diligent and motivated with their studies and have taken full advantage of the learning opportunities extended to them.”

Presented each fall, the six-inch “M” Letters have been awarded to more than 1,375 students since the program began in 1994.
