Mother, Son Report Gunpoint Robbery on N. Arbor Trail


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A woman and her 27-year-old son told police they were robbed at gunpoint in the first block of N. Arbor Trails on Saturday, January 24, shortly after 10 p.m.

Police say the woman and her son walked to their vehicle which was parked in the parking lot. The son opened the trunk and started to put his mother’s walker into it when a dark blue or black Buick vehicle drove north around the parked cars and then towards their location. Two subjects jumped out of the vehicle, one from the front passenger seat and one from the rear passenger seat.

The subjects were described as male, black, approximately 16 to 20 years of age, between 5’8″ and 5’10”, weighing between 170 and 200 pounds. One subject was wearing a black jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, a black skull cap, and gloves, according to police. The other was wearing a black jacket and gloves, according to police.

Both subjects allegedly jumped out of the vehicle pointing handguns at the mother and her son. The subjects then allegedly told them to take off their jackets, saying. The son gave them his burgundy mink jacket worth approximately $200, and the mother gave them her brown leather Cache jacket with raccoon fur trim worth about $500. The subject with the skullcap then yanked a gold chain necklace from around the son’s neck. The necklace is described as a marijuana-shaped medallion and embedded with 10 carat diamonds worth about $6000, according to police. The subjects also allegedly told the son to take off his pair of 2 carat diamond earrings. The subjects also allegedly took the woman’s purse.

The subjects also allegedly took two boxes of Gucci shoes worth approximately $400 from the trunk of the vehicle, and two black CD cases containing 100 CDs, valued at approximately $500 apiece. The subjects then returned to their vehicle and exited the parking lot.

The incident was turned over to the Detective Division for further investigation.
