Updated at 11:55 a.m. with correct phone number

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Village of Park Forest’s Department of Public Works will conduct hydrant flushing beginning October 7, 2008.  The village flushes the fire hydrants to remove rust and sediment from the water system. During this operation, water may become discolorerd from rust.

According to Village officials, the water is safe for drinking and cooking, but will stain clothing during washing.

On your area’s date, the Village recommend that you do not wash clothes.  If laundry does become discolored, keep the items wet, and pick up free cleaner during regular business hours in the Customer Service Department at Village Hall. Flushing takes place from 8:00 p.m. to midnight on the following days:

  • Tuesday, October 7th (Lincolnwood north of the E&J Railroad & Eastgate)
  • Wednesday, October 8th (Between EJ&E Railroad & Sauk Trail)
  • Thursday, October 9th (From Sauk Trail south)

For further information, please call the Department of Public Works at 708-503-7703.
