Park Forest Police Report for April 27, 2009


Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Lakewood Boulevard on April 16 to investigate a report of fraud. Officer Kush spoke with a resident who said she took her vehicle in for maintenance and paid the bill with her Visa debit card. Upon reviewing her statement, she discovered that there were four charges on her card in excess of $800 that had been made without her permission. Police continue to investigate.

Tyray R. Cooper, 18, 2 McGarity St., Park Forest, was arrested on April 18 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the first block of Indianwood Boulevard to investigate a report of a subject being chased by a group of subjects.

Jeron A. Cotton, 22, 3461 Roesner Dr., Markham, was arrested on April 18 and issued two municipal citations charging no taillights and possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol in the area of Western Avenue and Main Street observed that the vehicle Cotten was driving had no working taillights, according to police.

Police were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of Forest Boulevard on April 19. An officer on patrol in the area of Forest Boulevard and Main Street observed that the front window of a business in the 300 block of Forest Boulevard had been broken. Police alerted the business owner and gathered evidence from the scene.

A green vase valued at $25, miscellaneous coins valued at $200, and 120 quarters were reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of North Arbor Trail on April 20.

A student at Park Forest Academy, 375 Oswego St., was arrested on April 20 and charged with disorderly conduct when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a complaint of disorderly conduct.

A juvenile was arrested on April 21 when police were dispatched to the first block of South Arbor Trails to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. The juvenile allegedly broke the passenger side windows of a vehicle. The juvenile’s case is being referred to the juvenile division for petitioning into juvenile court.

David A. Hernandez, 33, 21120 S. Kildare Ave., Matteson, was arrested on April 22 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Neola Street to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance. According to police, while at the Park Forest Police Department, Hernandez allegedly told one of the arresting officers, “That’s it bitch, you’re dead! You have to drive down the street for the next 10 years and you’re going to find yourself with a bullet in your head! I’m Mexican Mafia bitch. I’m gonna make it happen!” Hernandez allegedly said this after the officer had asked him to remove his shoelaces, according to police.

A 42-inch Dynex plasma television valued at $700 was reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Apache Street on April 22.

A juvenile was issued a municipal citation charging disorderly conduct when police were dispatched to the 3400 block of Western Avenue to investigate a report of a disturbance.

Jeffrey S. Patterson, 46, 1524 Portland Ave., Chicago Heights, was arrested on April 22 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding over the statutory speed limit, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, operation of a vehicle with revoked license, illegal transportation of alcohol, and operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08. Officer DeCeault was traveling southbound on Western Avenue at Indianwood Boulevard when he observed the vehicle Patterson was driving northbound on Western Avenue at Hemlock Street allegedly traveling at 55 m.p.h. in a 35 m.p.h. zone, according to police. The officer turned his vehicle around and got behind the speeding vehicle at Western Avenue and Main Street. The officer used the squad’s emergency lights, but the vehicle did not pull over, according to police. Officer DeCeault paced the vehicle at 65 m.p.h. The vehicle approached the EJ&E Railroad tracks where a train was in the process of crossing over Western Avenue. The vehicle stopped at the tracks and Officer DeCeault executed a traffic stop.
