Park Forest Police Report for May 4, 2009


A juvenile was issued municipal citations on April 17 charging disorderly conduct and battery when police were dispatched to the area of Todd and Illinois Streets to investigate a report of a disturbance.

Jordan Swaysland, 17, 344 Sauk Trail, Park Forest, was arrested on April 22 and issued a municipal citation charging battery when an officer on patrol was flagged down at the intersection of Westwood Drive and Rich Road by a man who reported that his daughter had been battered.

A Goodyear tire was reported stolen from the undercarriage of a van parked in the 100 block of North Orchard Boulevard on April 23.

Police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on April 23 shortly before 11 p.m. to investigate a report of battery. A female juvenile reported that she had been attacked by two other juvenile girls at the corner of Ash Street and 26th Street near Western Avenue. Police have suspect information.

Officer Habecker was dispatched to the 200 block of Rich Road on April 25 to assist the South Suburban Humane Society. According to police, the Humane Society had received several complaints from a concerned citizen that the dogs in the backyard of the residence were in poor health and are being mistreated. Police found two pit bulls that were underfed and did not have adequate food or shelter, according to police. One of the dogs had an abrasion to the under portion of its neck from being chained for an extended period of time, and the abrasion was infected. The dogs appeared to be malnourished and the caged area was unclean and contained dog feces, according to police. The dogs were taken into custody by the South Suburban Humane Society. Charges are pending against the dogs’ owner.

Diente M. Atkins, 17, 416 Rutledge Dr., Park Forest, was arrested on April 25 and charged with driving without a driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and possession of cannabis when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Todd Street to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle.

The rear cargo window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Willow Street was reported shattered on April 26.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Minocqua Street on April 26 to investigate a report of telephone harassment. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

Police discovered gang graffiti spray-painted on a residence in the 100 block of Lester on April 27.

Police were dispatched to Forest Trail Middle School on April 27 to investigate a delayed report of a domestic battery incident. There were no arrests.

Four thousand dollars in United States currency and one pair of Nike gym shoes, valued at $100, were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Todd Street on April 27. Police continue to investigate.

Police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on April 28 to investigate a report of domestic battery. Police have suspect information.

Four teenagers walked into a business in the 300 block of Main Street on April 30 and allegedly left the store with a gold dress, vest, and tie without paying for the items. The store owner provided police with a swatch of the material used for the dress. It is believed that the teens will be attending a prom at Rich East High School. Police will follow up with the police liaison staff on May 1 to identify and arrest the female subject wearing a dress made out of the material from the swatch, according to police.

Two juveniles were arrested and charged with theft on April 30 when police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Sauk Trail to investigate a report of theft.

Jonathan I. Rolling, 21, 426 Niagara St., Park Forest, and Christopher D. Miles, 20, 21422 Jeffrey Dr., Matteson, were arrested on April 30 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol on Blackhawk Drive observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Blackhawk without lights when required. The vehicle was curbed on Miami Street. Rolling was also issued local ordinance tickets charging operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without lights when required.
