Park Forest Police Report – January 5, 2009


Two thousand dollars cash and miscellaneous jewelry were reported stolen from a room in a residence in the 100 block of Main Street on December 25.

A .40 caliber Glock model 23 handgun was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Minocqua Street on December 25. The owner provided police with a valid Illinois FOID card. The weapon was placed into L.E.A.D.S. as being stolen.

Julian R. Aguayo, 17, 332 Winnebago St., Park Forest, was arrested on December 27 and charged with possession of cannabis and failure to signal when required when detectives on patrol in the area of Wilshire and Wilson Streets saw the vehicle Aguayo was driving allegedly make a right turn without signaling.

Police were dispatched to the area of Forest and Indianwood Boulevards on December 27 at 6:08 PM to assist the Park Forest Paramedics regarding a subject lying in the street who was not moving. Upon arrival, paramedics were already on the scene treating the subject. The paramedics related that the subject was unresponsive but breathing. Paramedics observed no signs of trauma or injury to the subject. Police checked the subject’s pockets and located a wallet containing a Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) identification card. The man, Michael Furgeson, 59, no address listed, was transported to St. James hospital in Chicago Heights. Mr. Ferguson died while en route to the hospital, according to police. Police found no evidence that Mr. Ferguson was struck by a vehicle.

A laptop computer was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Washington Street on December 28.

Edward C. Williams, 48, 22422 Millard Ave., Richton Park, was arrested on December 28 and charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia when an officer on patrol in the Family Video parking lot on Sauk Trail received an anonymous tip that someone was sitting in a parked vehicle in the parking lot allegedly drinking an alcoholic beverage from a glass bottle and smoking “crack.”

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Miami Street on December 28 in reference to a report of domestic battery. Police have suspect information.

Lawand S. Dixon, 19, 137 Sauk Trail, Park Forest, was arrested on December 30 and charged with criminal trespass to auto, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to wear seat belt, failure to signal turn, and operation of a motor vehicle with no insurance when an officer traveling eastbound on Indiana Street observed the vehicle Dixon was driving allegedly turn onto Indiana Street from Sheridan Street without signaling.

The driver’s side rear wheel and rim were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the first block of South Arbor Trail on December 30.

The front driver side window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Westwood Drive was reported shattered on December 31.

Two packs of cigarettes and a handicapped placard were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the first block of Choate Road on December 31.

Capri S. Crosby, 29, 142 Warwick St., Park Forest, was arrested on December 31 and charged with open alcohol-driver and unlawful possession of cannabis when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Allegheny Street to investigate a report of three or four male subjects allegedly selling drugs.

Michelle R. Zwesler, 26, 335 Nokomis St., Park Forest, was arrested on December 31 and charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and one felony charge of unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance when police were dispatched to Walgreens, 15 S. Orchard Drive, to investigate a report of an alleged forgery in progress. According to SouthCom Dispatch Center, Zwiesler had a fraudulent prescription for Vicoprofen.

Christopher Miles, 19, 21422 Jeffrey St., Matteson, was arrested on January 1 and charged with obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and consumption of alcohol by a minor when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Niagara Street to investigate a disturbance at a residence.

A silver 2005 Audi A-6, Illinois registration X413910, was reported stolen from a residence in the first block of McGarity Street on January 1.

Two juveniles, age 12 and 13, were taken into custody when an officer on patrol observed them allegedly damaging trash receptacles inside the Somonauk Park pavilion. Police determined that no permanent damage had been done to the facility. After taking the juveniles to the police station and notifying parents, it was determined that the children would be escorted back to the park by the parents and they together would clean up the trash strewn about by their children. No further police action will be taken, according to police.

The rear driver side window of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Ash Street was reported shattered on January 1.

Two doors and door frames of a house in the first block of Apple street were reported damaged on January 1.

Police responded to the Park Forest Police Department on January 2 to investigate a report of financial identity theft. A resident reported that an unknown person or persons had used her bank account to pay a $200 credit card bill without her permission.

The windshield of the vehicle parked in the first block of Dogwood Street was reported damaged on January 2. Police observed a small hole in the windshield, possibly caused by a small pellet.

A juvenile was arrested January 2 and charged with criminal trespass to land when police responded to the 300 block of Indiana Street to investigate a report of an open door and at vacant residence.

A Garmin portable GPS, valued at $200, a cell phone and $11 in United States currency were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Todd Street on January 3.
