Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Seasonal and holiday events abound at the Park Forest Public Library during December. Patrons can enjoy a library brimming with holiday music, creating ornaments, participating in a seasonal soup-making class, and more.

Holiday & Seasonal Events

On Thursday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m., the “Birds of Paradise” winter concert takes place, featuring festive music of the season. Refreshments are served immediately following the concert. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.

Those with a creative inclination find interest in a session on crafting holiday jewelry to keep or share as gifts. On Thursday, December 2, at 5 p.m., Sherri Ewing of Precious One Designs will instruct participants on creating beaded earrings, necklaces, and bracelets perfect for the season. Registration for this event is necessary.

A second creative craft session, “Ornament Decorating for All Ages,” will be on Wednesday, December 17, at 5 p.m., where participants will create personalized ornaments to decorate their homes for the holidays. Registration is necessary.

There is nothing better on a chilly winter day than a bowl of warm, seasonal soup. Join Chef Susan Maddox on Saturday, December 13, at 1 p.m., for a cooking demonstration and sample some of her delicious creations. Registration is necessary and opens on December 1.

Dancing and Self-Care for Adults

The library’s ballroom dance series continues in December with instructor Danny Deleon of Dance Develop leading an hour of salsa instruction and dancing on Wednesday, December 10, at 5:30 p.m. No partner is necessary. Registration is encouraged.

On Wednesdays, December 10 and 17, at 11:30 a.m., join Arlene Santiago for an interactive and instructional fitness class, “Ageless Strength & Mobility.” Organizers encourage participants to bring a hand towel and water to the class, and participants must sign a waiver before participating.

After a hectic holiday season, “An Introduction to Meditation & Self-Care” may be a perfect way to reduce stress. The class is for adults on Tuesday, December 30, at 6 p.m. No prior experience is necessary for this introductory workshop, which focuses on enhancing personal well-being and building emotional resilience. Registration for this event is recommended.

Help for Those Struggling with the Holidays

Many people find the holidays trigger feelings of anxiety and depression. To help, the library offers “Holiday Blues,” a roundtable discussion with licensed clinical social worker Cecilia Bozeman, on Tuesday, December 16, at 11 a.m. Bozeman helps participants manage the season with a sense of peace. Light refreshments are provided. Registration is encouraged and opens on December 1.

The library at 400 Lakewood Boulevard is open for all services from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The library will close on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, for the Christmas holiday. It will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, for the New Year’s holiday.
