Prairie State College Announces Firefighter II Graduates


Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Prairie State College (PSC) recently held a commencement ceremony recognizing the newest graduates of the college’s Firefighter II certificate program.

The graduates are Douglas Brucer, Crete Township Fire Protection District; Anthony Cella, Chicago Heights Fire Department; Ken Cook, Sauk Village Fire Department; Jacob Dralle, Crete Fire Department; Joshua Giovenco, South Chicago Heights Fire Department; Scott Glaze, Sauk Village Fire Department; Nicole Guarino, Steger Fire Department; Ryan Johnson, Crete Township Fire Protection District; Charles Krug, Crete Fire Department; Kelly Miller, Glenwood Fire Department; James Morosovillo, Chicago Heights Fire Department; Joseph Pinnick, Crete Township Fire Protection District; Jennifer Smith, Roberts Park Fire Protection District; Benjamin Veronie, South Chicago Heights Fire Department; Stephen Young, Richton Park Fire Department.

“The students who complete the Firefighter II program are prepared to be placed into action,” said Tom Martello, coordinator of the fire science technology program. “We are confident that our students will be valuable members of their departments.”

In addition to training those seeking employment in fire service, the Firefighter II certificate prepares students for the state Firefighter II certification exams. The program follows the standards of the National Fire Protection Association and the Office of the State Fire Marshall. Students participate in both classroom and field exercises taught and supervised by instructors from area fire departments.

PSC offers several degrees and certificates to prepare students for careers as municipal firefighters, fire inspectors, or insurance investigators. Program offerings include Fire Science Technology A.A.S. Degree, Fire Science Technology Certificate, and Firefighter II/EMT Certificate.
