NOTE: THIS ARTICLE IS FROM 2016. THE ALERT FOR JULY 5, 2019, IS HERE: Park Forest Enacts Village-wide Water Boil Order > This is IMMEDIATE

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Village officials in Park Forest have issued a precautionary water boil alert Sunday for residents living in the vicinity of 26th Street and Birch Street, scene of a water main break.

The alert follows:

“The Park Forest Public Works Department is alerting the public that a break to a water main in the water distribution system has occurred near the intersection of 26th Street and Birch Street. As crews begin work to repair this break, there likely will be periods of very low or no water pressure in your area of the community.

“While there is no known public safety exposure at this time, a precautionary water boiling alert is in place through mid-day on Tuesday, July 26th as the Village monitors water pressure and quality.

“A precautionary boil order means that residents should boil tap water for 5 minutes if it is to be used for drinking or cooking.

“This notice does not mean that the water is contaminated. However, because the quality of the water is unknown pending laboratory verification, residents should take precautions.

“Residents will receive a follow up notice when the precautionary boil order has been lifted. Updated details on this boil alert can be found on the Village web site or by calling the Public Works Department at 503-7702 during normal business hours.”

Updates will also be posted on the Village of Park Forest website.
