PSC Art Exhibit Features Works by Graduating Students

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Prairie State College (PSC) Annual Graduate Exhibit features works by PSC students who will graduate in May. Those who visit this year’s exhibit will find a diversity of styles, techniques, and subjects—ranging from portraiture and landscape to fantasy and abstraction. The exhibit will run Monday, April 27 through Thursday, May 21, in the college’s Christopher Art Gallery, located at 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. A reception to honor the students will be held on Wednesday, April 29, from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

All of the exhibiting students were enrolled in the college’s Portfolio Seminar course. Students learned about professional standards, developed their portfolio for presentation, worked to develop a coherent body of new work for the show, and engaged in an ongoing critical dialogue about their work.

“Our students have produced works of great beauty and vision,” said Paul Rinaldi, associate professor and coordinator of fine arts. “Collectively, their drawings, paintings, and photographs reveal an unwavering desire to explore complex issues of self, community, and the world.”

Students whose work will be on display are Johann Allen of Park Forest; Diana Gudowski of Munster, Ind.; Robert Jamison of Chicago; Taylor Lenoir of Homewood; Blanca Martinez of Chicago Heights; Elisabeth Mikottis of Monee; Katherine Narcisi of Crete; Ryan Niksic, of Crete; Bruce Peerson of Crete; Julia Reich of Flossmoor; Christina Reyenga of Monee; Malinda Walker of Chicago Heights; David Wedryk of South Holland; Jessica Westerhoff of Steger; and Michiel van der Hoek of Homewood.

Hours for the Christopher Art Gallery are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Visits can be made by appointment.
