Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park’s Annual Event Returns Saturday, September 12

University Park, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Plan for an evening under the stars celebrating Governors State University’s (GovState) Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park (theNate) at the park’s annual Prairie Party.

Who: Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park

What: An evening among art. The schedule is as follows:

4 p.m. | Guests arrive; guided tours by golf cart; guided walking tours

5 p.m. | Cocktail hour, open bar; Visual Arts Gallery and E Lounge Patio

6 p.m. | Welcome

6:30 p.m. | Buffet dinner by DrewBBQ, open bar; tent adjacent to E Lounge

Program | theNate story and mission

The Visual Arts Gallery will feature art by Robert Burnier. Living and working in Chicago, Burnier received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute in 2016 and his BS in Computer Science from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 1991. 

His sculptures draw on color studies inspired by ancient African, Mediterranean, and Mesopotamian objects. “I explore folded, compressed forms as evolving records of touch, movement, and color, where identity and transformation emerge through process rather than representation,” said Burnier.

Why: This annual event celebrates theNate and its collection of 34 master works of large-scale sculpture situated in 100 acres of prairie landscape, while raising money to support the park. Throughout the year, theNate provides programs for adults and children with a focus on integrating art and nature.
