Area High School Student Art Work Featured During PSC Gallery Exhibit

CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPFS)—March 5, 2013. Student artists from regional high schools will have their work on display during the Prairie State College (PSC) Annual High School Exhibition, from Monday, March 18 through Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Christopher Art Gallery on the PSC main campus, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

A reception for the artists and their families will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, March 21, and features an awards ceremony at 7 p.m.

Student submissions will include works in computer art, drawing, painting, mixed media, graphic design, sculpture, and photography. High schools represented in previous years included Rich Central, Rich East, Rich South, Bloom, Bloom Trail, Crete-Monee, Beecher, and Homewood-Flossmoor.

“Last year’s show had some outstanding work in it, and many of the high school art teachers came for the reception,” said gallery Director Beth Shadur.  “This is a wonderful way to highlight student work in our beautiful space.”

“I am eagerly looking forward to the submissions of student art work,” said exhibit curator, Professor Louis Shields. “It is always a joy to look over the talented students in the area.”

The Christopher Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Visits also can be made by appointment. For more information about the exhibit or to make an appointment for a visit, contact the PSC Foundation at (708) 709-3636.
