Chicago Artist Exhibits at GSU

University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)– In conjunction with its third annual Arts Fest on October 14, Governors State University will host an exhibition of the work of Chicago artist, Gabriel Villa, from September 30 through October 23, in the Visual Arts Gallery. A reception celebrating the artist’s work and a presentation by Villa will be held October 14, at 6 p.m., in E-Lounge, adjacent to the art gallery.

Gabriel Villa’s work is multifaceted, employing new imagery, themes, and formal strategies and intensified from the use of newfound images. His idiosyncratic body of work offers diversity and powerful imagery as a direct result of the influence of his adopted home, Chicago.

Gabriel Villa received his BFA from the Corpus Christi State University in 1992 and his MFA from the University of Delaware three years later. Since 2005, he has served as an educator at Chicago’s National Museum of Mexican Art as well as co-curator of exhibitions at the Kraft Foods Gallery.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The Visual Arts Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Governors State University is located at 1 University Parkway, University Park.
