Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- A packet of thank you notes from Forest Trail School eighth grade students in Dee Stonis’ classes is on its way to veterans who are patients of the VA Clinic in Chicago Heights.
Mrs. Stonis’ classes just completed reading “Stop the Sun,” a literature pieceby Gary Paulsen. A character in the piece is a father who is dealing with PTSD (post traumatic stress syndrome) as a result of his service in the Vietnam War. Mrs. Stonis thought a valuable project would be notes written by the students to veterans thanking them for their service in the military. A parent who is a nurse at the VA Clinic was able to make the connection for the students, said Mrs. Stonis. The parent will deliver the notes to the clinic.
