GSU Hosts Student Art Exhibit

University Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Governors State University is pleased to presents the work of Wayon Collins in his graduate thesis exhibition “Don’t Shoot The Messenger.” The exhibition will be on display from July 7 to 12, in the university’s Visual Arts Gallery. An opening reception celebrating the artist and his work will be held on Tuesday, July 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. Both the reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

Collins shows the viewer modern day problems through his artwork, which takes the form of comic book covers and the iconic posters of various activists who spoke out against social inequalities.

His artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout the Chicago area.  Collins earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts at Governors State University. Collins is currently working at Governors State University and living in Chicago.

The Visual Arts Gallery is open Monday and Wednesday, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., and by appointment. The gallery is located adjacent to E Lounge, Governors State University, 1 University Parkway, University Park, Illinois.
