International Real Estate Leader to Keynote Roosevelt University’s November 5 Real Estate Gala

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–October 23, 2015. Gerald D. Hines, founder and chairman of Hines, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 14th annual Real Estate Gala hosted by the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University. The event will be held on November 5 at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, 120 E. Delaware Place, Chicago, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Hines founded his namesake firm in Houston in 1957. Since then, the company has steadily grown into a global powerhouse in real estate investment, development and management. Today, the Hines portfolio of projects underway, completed, acquired and managed includes more than 1,100 properties representing $84.9 billion of assets with locations in 185 cities in 19 countries.

Hines is credited with pioneering quality architecture as a new business model in commercial real estate and setting new industry standards for quality in real estate investment, development and management. As a result, he has received many honors, including the Honor Award from the National Building Museum (2000); the Lynn S. Beedle Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (2004) and the first Visionary Leadership in Real Estate Development Award from Harvard University (2008).

More than 450 real estate and related industry leaders are expected to attend the Gala which offers unparalleled networking opportunities, an elegant reception and formal dinner. Highlights include the presentation of the Lifetime Industry Leadership Award to Daniel T. McCaffery, CEO and Edmund C. Woodbury, president, of McCaffery Interests.

McCaffery Interests is a privately owned, full-service commercial real estate company that has been in the business of developing, managing and investing in real estate for 25 years. Its portfolio of projects exceeds 20 million square feet and includes office, mixed-use, hotel, and residential properties, as well as large land developments.

Notable ongoing local projects by McCaffery Interests include the CMH Redevelopment – a partnership with Hines to develop the former Children’s Memorial Hospital site, The Roosevelt Collection, and 1115 W. Fulton Market.

Since its founding in 2002, the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate has grown to become one of the largest graduate real estate programs in the country and one of the most diverse. When it was created, the institute had 25 people in its initial class. Today it has more than 50 enrolled students and more than 450 graduates, many of whom work at Chicago firms. The institute offers a master of business administration degree with a concentration in real estate as well as a master of science in real estate. The gala event provides over half of the Institute’s annual operating budget as well as support for named funds and scholarships.
