Late Start Courses Begin at Prairie State College September 13

Chicago Heights, IL—(ENEWSPF)—September 3, 2013. Busy work schedules, family obligations, and changing life situations can make it difficult to start college classes at the beginning of the semester. For those who were unable to begin classes in August, Prairie State College (PSC) offers a broad range of Late Start courses beginning Sept. 13.

Students should register for these courses as soon as possible because availability is limited. Registration for courses is ongoing and will continue until the courses begin or are filled.

PSC offers more than 40 Late Start courses, which run for 12 weeks instead of 16 weeks. Late Start courses have longer class times to compensate for their abbreviated schedule, and cover the same amount of material as the 16-week courses. They also offer the same number of credits as the 16-week courses and satisfy the same requirements for a degree or certificate.

Late Start course offerings include anthropology, art, biology, business, graphic communication, English, humanities, journalism, math, music, psychology, sociology, theatre, and more. Courses also are available for students who need some remedial work before qualifying for college-level courses.

Prior to registration, new students must complete an enrollment application on campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights, or online at prairiestate.edu/enroll. Current students may register online or in person. Hours of operation for Enrollment Services are Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For more information about registering for courses, contact the Counseling and Academic Advising Center at (708) 709-3506.
