SPRINGFIELD—(ENEWSPF)—April 18, 2013. Legislation sponsored by State Representative Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights) extending the deadline for the completion of an alternative teaching certification program recently passed out of the Illinois House Elementary & Secondary Education Committee.
DeLuca’s measure aims to help Governors State University to continue to maintain and operate a Teacher Quality Partnership grant to train and place teachers in nine high-need Chicago Southland school districts. The grant provides funding for about 170 student-teacher residency placements.
