Marian Catholic High School Graduates 206 Students

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Marian Catholic in Chicago Heights, Illinois graduated 206 students on May 22 at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Students from the class of 2017 will attend 102 colleges across 23 states and the District of Columbia in the fall.

The Marian Catholic class of 2017 as a whole earned $15.83 million in scholarships. Over the last five years the graduating classes have earned a total of $92,250,000 in scholarships.

The class wore lime green ribbons during the graduation ceremony in memory of former classmate Blake Bennett who passed away unexpectedly during the class’s sophomore year.

Marian Catholic’s graduating senior, Aleah Markovic of Hammond, Indiana was named a National Merit Scholar in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Two other graduating seniors, Jasmine Bovia of Matteson and Joshua Robinson of Steger, earned the status of National Merit Commended Students.

Marian Catholic’s class of 2017 had 27 students recognized as Illinois State Scholars. Another six students who met the Illinois State Scholar criteria live in Indiana. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement based on standardized test scores and class rank.

The class of 2017 also named 4 students National Hispanic Scholars by the College Board. This award is based on performance on the PSAT, and are students who score in the top 2.5% of Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers in our region.
