Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- It may be a sign that fall is truly here or that Halloween is on the horizon. But it’s also a great opportunity to get a jump on Christmas shopping. Whatever the motivation, the annual Marian Catholic Band Parents’ Oktoberfest Arts and Crafts Show will provide something for everybody.

Extremely popular at the school and throughout the community, the 31st annual event will feature a multitude of crafters with a tremendous array of items. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, giving people plenty of time to get home for the Chicago Bears’ 3:05 p.m. kickoff in Jacksonville.

“Not only is it a major fund-raiser for the band and major contributor for its operation, but one of the really special things about Oktoberfest is the community spirit it creates,” said Lisa Collins, chair of the event for the past five years. “In addition, we have people who have visited or participated in the event for 15 to 20 years.  It’s a family event that has generations returning along with new people coming every year.”

Along with amazing crafting, the $1 admission (free for senior citizens and children under age 12) will also include prize drawings, homemade baked goods for sale, wonderful homemade German food and music from Marian Band Ensembles.

Proceeds from the annual fund-raiser will help fund the band’s travel, including Bands of America Regionals and Grand Nationals in Indianapolis and eventually the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. More information may be obtained by calling Lisa Collins at 708-502-5472.
