Performance in the Round leads nine first-place finishes

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Led by a first place in Performance in the Round and eight other individual champions, Marian Catholic High School’s Speech Team scored 74 points to capture first place in the Thornridge Regional on Feb. 6.

Joe Wlos (Crete) won titles in Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking, while Summer Fields (Richton Park) captured first place in Radio Speaking and Special Occasion Speaking. Other Marian titles came from Jonathan Williamsen (Steger) in Dramatic Interpretation, Mollyanne Nunn (Crete) in Humorous Interpretation, Kiayla Jackson (Sauk Village) in Original Comedy and Conor Keane (Oak Forest) in Informative Speaking.

Marian also got second-place points in Humorous Duet Acting from Zach Henry (Lansing) and Adam King (Lansing), and Jaboukie Young-White (Harvey) in Original Oratory, Jackson in Poetry Reading and Williamsen in Prose Reading. Meanwhile, Colleen Daw (Homewood) earned a third place in Oratorical Declamation, and King teamed with Nunn for a fourth place in Dramatic Duet Acting.
