Matteson SD 162 to Consider Many Personnel Matters Tuesday


Matteson, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Matteson District 162 School Board of Education will meet on July 21, 2009, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room.

Items on the agenda include some personell matters. The board will consider approval of the following:

  • Amanda Carter, 4th grade teacher at Indiana School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Lisa La Morte, 4th grade teacher at Matteson School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Natasha Nettle, music teacher at Matteson and Arcadia Schools, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Matthew Dawson, 4th grade teacher at Indiana School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Mary Ellen Smith, 5th grade Special Education teacher at Indiana School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Steve Yunker, 6th grade teacher at Indiana School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Tiffany Sanford, 7th grade social science teacher at Huth Middle School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Brandi McClinton, Special Education teacher at Huth Middle School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Christine Randazzo, math teacher at Huth Middle School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Joyce Potts, media/library specialist at Richton Square School, effective August 18, 2009.
  • Ashley Warner, 5th grade teacher at Indiana School, effective August 18, 2009.

The board will consider the resignations of the following individuals:

  • The resignation of Kari Hupfer, teacher at Arcadia School, effective June 9, 2009.
  • The resignation of Kimberly Ulrich, media/library specialist at Illinois School, effective June 25, 2009.
  • The resignation of Erin Carmichael, teacher at Indiana School, effective June 22, 2009.
  • The resignation of Wyndie Williams-Lewis, teacher at Huth Middle School, effective July 14, 2009.
  • The resignation of Meredith Elliot, teacher at Matteson School, effective June 23, 2009.
  • The retirement of Marilyn Bonick, teacher at Arcadia School, effective at the end of the 2010-2011 school year.
  • The rescinding of Shirley Gilkison’s retirement, effective April 27, 2009.
  • The resignation of Taiyuan M. Banks-Tillmon, teacher at Illinois School, effective August 17, 2009.
  • The resignation of Jennifer L. Campos, teacher at Indiana School, effective June 9, 2009.

The board will consider the following leaves:

  • The maternity leave of Sarah Hansen, beginning May 26, 2009, through the end of the 2009-2010 school year.
  • The leave under the Family Medical Leave Act for Caryn Leonard, beginning September 21, 2009, and returning on January 19, 2010.

The board will consider the following contracts:

  • The contract with Robert Grefe, psychologist, for the 2009- 2010 school year.
  • The contract with Ida Reid, speech therapist, for the 2009-2010 school year.
  • The contract with Scott Cline, network administrator, for the 2009-2010 school year.
  • The contract with Pediatric Therapy Services for the 2009-2010 school year.

Under business, the Board will consider awarding a two-year contract for the delivery of milk for students.

Bill Listing – Authorization of the administration to pay the schedule of bills payable and authorize the District Treasurer to sign the checks dated July 21, 2009, in the amount of $1,236,758.58.

The Board will acknowledge the following gifts and donations for the Board Retreat:

  • A.J. Maggio $1,000
  • Arcon $3,000
  • Briargate Insurance $1,000
  • Edline $1,000
  • McEldowney Financial Services $500
  • Preferred Meals $1,500
  • Quality Control Systems $5,000
  • Kickert School Bus Lines $2,000

The Board will consider approval of the Settlement Agreement and General Release with Former Employee A.

Under new business, the Board will consider the contract with Tangible Results for Dr. Laura Murray as special assistant to the Superintendent for 120 days during the period from August 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

The Board will also consider the Suspension of Employee B from July 1, 2009 through July 21, 2009 and the termination of Employee B’s employment effective July 21, 2009.

The Board will go into executive session to consider information regarding a student discipline case and the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees or public officials, collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(9), 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2)

Minutes approved at this meeting are posted within seven days in the District Office and on the District’s Web site and Edline for 60 days. The approved minutes also are posted at the Matteson, Park Forest and Richton Park Public Libraries.
