Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)- eNews Park Forest continues with our series of stellar students from Rich East High School. Mr. Kevin Kredens, the school’s publicity liaison, provides each student a series of the same questions. All responses are in the students’ exact words, except for minor editing for content and space when needed.

We are pleased to feature India Borjas, a 15-year resident of Park Forest, currently 12th in her class, who is "utterly grateful for the education" she received while attending Rich East. She speaks highly of her teachers, and was, and continues to be, involved in many activities.

Ms. Borjas plans to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Meet India Borjas:

Are you a Park Forest Resident? How long? At Rich East all four years?  I have been a Park Forest resident for 15 years and have attended Rich East for all four of my high school years.

What do you like most about Rich East? Is there anything you would have done differently? I am utterly grateful for the education I have received while attending Rich East. The teachers are admirable. If I had the decision of doing anything different for my school, it would be to perk up the overall school spirit.

Activities/Athletics  participated in?  Special awards?  Hobbies? Community/church volunteering? Activities I have been involved in throughout my four years at Rich East consist of: National Honor Society (NHS), Student Council of Rich East (SCORE), Mathletes, and Scholastic Bowl. I have volunteered in food concessions for the basketball and football games and wrestling meets. I also monitored sixth- through eighth-grade classes at Forest Trail High School. Awards I have received include: Academic Honors Excellence Award, Green and Gold Apple Award.

GPA/Class Rank: My GPA is a 3.67 and I am currently ranked 12th out of 167 in my senior class.

ACT:  My ACT score was a 23.

Teacher{s} and/or coaches who have most inspired you: The number one teacher who has inspired me has been Ms. (Kathleen) Barratt, who was also my ACT prep teacher and is currently my AP Calculus teacher. I would also like to truly recognize Mr. (Robert) Grigsby, Ms. (Marisa) Ptak, Ms. (Carol) Cukierman, Mr. (Mike) Blomarz, Ms. (Amy) Bloodgood, Ms. (Lenore) Rendina, Mr. (Thomas) Volz, Mr. (Mark) Adamczyk, and Mr. (Robert) LaFrance.

Areas met/exceeded in PSAE/AP Exams: I met in all areas of the PSAE. I will be taking my AP exams in Calculus and Psychology in May.

College choice/major:  I plan on attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or the University of Illinois at Chicago. My major is currently undeclared.

What music is replaying on your ipod, mpg3, or phone these days? I enjoy listening to all kinds of music, old and new! ☺

Favorite TV Shows/Books? My favorite TV shows would be Revenge, Shark Tank, The Walking Dead, Nip/Tuck, and American Horror Story. I love the House of Night Series by Kristin and P.C. Cast and I also enjoy books by the author E.L. James.

Favorite junk foods? Surprisingly for my age, I don’t eat a lot of junk food and I drink nothing but delicious water!

Places that you’d most like to visit? I see myself travelling the world, visiting every major landmark and state in the United States and hoping around from country to country.

Where do you want to be in five years? In ten years? In five years, I see myself graduating with my degree and on my way to graduate school. In 10 years, I see myself in the career path I have chosen and HAPPY! ☺
