PSC Delivers Handmade Gifts to Manteno Veterans Home

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–December 22, 2014.  Dr. Loretta Kucharczyk, director of the first year experience at Prairie State College (PSC), helps load a college vehicle with the items made during the yearlong PSC Knits for Vets project. The goal of the project was to provide a handmade gift for each of the approximately 280 veterans residing at the Manteno Veterans Home. Kucharczyk was the project’s chair. More than 100 people participated in the project, including PSC staff and faculty, as well as several volunteers off campus. The volunteers exceeded the goal with a grand total of 372 items, including 136 fleece blankets, 131 crocheted or knitted lap afghans, 60 hats, 16 pairs of fingerless gloves, 13 fleece lap afghans, 12 scarves, nine hat and scarf sets and five full-sized crocheted afghans.
