Prairie State College Receives Second Casa Club Yuriria Scholarship Donation

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– For the second year in a row, the Casa Club Yuriria is supporting Prairie State College students with a scholarship donation. Casa Club Yuriria, a Chicago-based social club, renewed its scholarship gift for Hispanic students. The club recently met with the 2010 scholarship recipients and donated $4,000 for 2011 awards. Recipients pledge to continue a scholarship chain and reach back to those who follow them, through mentoring and, when possible, financial help in the future.

“The PSC Foundation is very grateful to Casa Club Yuriria members for their continuing support for PSC’s Hispanic students. The “scholarship chain” envisioned by the club will grow longer and stronger each year, as current recipients pledge to ‘reach back’ to help those who will follow them, by mentoring, advocacy, and perhaps financial assistance at some future time as well,” said Cathy Kloss, executive director of the PSC Foundation.

Casa Club Yuriria is a non-profit social organization dedicated to helping the Hispanic community. Casa Club Yuriria members all have ties to the city of Yuriria in central Mexico. Through fundraising social events, they raise money for a variety of causes, both in the Chicago area and in their hometown of Yuriria. Requirements for the Casa Club Yuriria scholarship include a completed information sheet, 200 word essay, one parent must be of Hispanic origin, and demonstrated financial need. The scholarship recipients will be chosen by the PSC Foundation scholarship committee. For more information on the PSC Foundation, please call (708) 709-3636.
