Prairie State College Speech Team Takes Seventh and Wins Several Individual Honors at Harper College Tournament

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Prairie State College (PSC) speech team recently placed seventh in a tournament hosted by Harper College. The team also brought home several individual honors.

The three competitors, Patrick Sheard of Dolton, Daniel Blewitt of Crete and Anfernee Gray of Sauk Village, broke into the final rounds of seven of the nine events in which they competed against competitors from around the country.

Blewitt finished with a gold in speech to entertain, and a silver in dramatic interpretation and prose interpretation. Sheard finished with a gold in prose, a silver in persuasion, and a bronze in program oral interpretation and dramatic interpretation.

The team was coached by PSC Professors Joshua Green and Ed Schwarz.

The team will compete at the Phi Rho Pi Nationals Tournament in April, and says the experience at Harper College has better prepared them for competition. “That was a good appetizer. We’re ready for the main course,” they said.
