CHICAGO —(ENEWSPF)—June 4, 2015. Author Clark Elliott, transportation expert Joseph Schwieterman and librarian Morgen MacIntosh-Hodgetts — DePaul University faculty and staff members — will be among the speakers at the Chicago Tribune’s Printers Row Lit Fest June 6-7.
Billed as “the largest gathering of book lovers between the coasts,” Lit Fest offers panels, conversations and presentations with more than 200 authors, as well as children’s programs, cooking demonstrations and stalls of booksellers. Held in the historic Printers Row neighborhood in Chicago’s South Loop, this 31st annual event will be held from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on June 6 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on June 7. Clark Elliott, an associate professor of artificial intelligence in the DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media’s School of Computing, will discuss his recovery from a concussion and the science of brain plasticity during a panel conversation from 12:15-1 p.m. on June 7. Elliott chronicled his 13-year-long recovery in his new book, “The Ghost in My Brain: How a Concussion Stole My Life and How the New Science of Brain Plasticity Helped Me Get it Back.”
Joseph Schwieterman, director of the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul and a professor in the School of Public Service in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, will appear on a panel titled “Chicago Living.” The discussion will be held from 3:15-4 p.m. on June 6. Schwieterman’s latest book is titled “Terminal Town: An Illustrated Guide to Chicago’s Airports, Bus Depots, Train Stations, and Steamship Landings, 1939 – Present.”
Morgen MacIntosh-Hodgetts, is an archivist and the Special Collections instruction librarian at DePaul. She will interview James M. Scott about his book, “Target Tokyo: Jimmy Doolittle and the Raid That Avenged Pearl Harbor,” from 10-10:45 a.m. on June 7.
