Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Prairie State College (PSC) student Michael Baratta will attend University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) this fall to major in marketing. He will attend his first year at UIC tuition-free thanks to a scholarship he received from the office of State Rep. William Davis (D-30th District).
“I am so grateful that I received this scholarship, and that I can look forward to my first year at UIC without worrying about how to pay for it,” said Barrata, of Homewood. “It’s nice to know that my hard work has paid off.”
Rep. Davis awarded eight individual tuition waivers to participants who live in the 30th District. Each waiver is good for one full year of tuition, beginning with the fall semester of 2010 and includes summer sessions. Students were judged on academic achievement, community involvement, school activities, personal essay, and financial need.
