PSC to Host Information Session for Adults Interested in Starting College

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Prairie State College (PSC) understands that starting or returning to college as an adult can be overwhelming.

It doesn’t have to be.

To help adults take the first step, the college is hosting a free information session for adults who are thinking about starting college, but not sure how to begin, adults returning to college after being out for awhile, and those who are already registered for classes and are looking for additional information.

The event, New Directions, will be held on Tuesday, January 11, at 6 p.m., in the Business and Community Education Center, located on the college’s main campus, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights.

“Many adults tell us the hardest part is taking the first step,” said Diane Janowaik, coordinator, New Directions. “Prairie State College helps adults through the registration process and offers support while they are enrolled in classes.”

The session includes an overview of academic programs and services as well as information on financial aid, admissions, student life, and how to register for classes.

Those attending the New Directions information session will be entered in a drawing for a free course. The winner will be able to choose the course they wish to take in the spring 2011 term with no charge for tuition.

To register for New Directions, visit prairiestate.edu/returning or call Janowiak at (708) 709-3603.

Spring class registration is underway. Classes begin Tuesday, January 18. To register for credit courses, new students must complete an enrollment application in person at the college or online. Hours of operation for Enrollment Services are Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Current students can register for credit courses in person or online.
