Rich East-Rich South Team Wins Illinois College Advising Corps Scholarships

Rich Township students recently teamed togther to win the 21-team Illinois College Advising Corps Literacy Bowl at UIC. The students each won a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice. Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Three Rich East seniors and three Rich South seniors recently teamed together to each win a $1,000 college scholarship at the recent Financial Literacy Bowl, sposnored by the Illinois College Advising Corps and was hosted by the Universituy of Illinois-Chicago campus.

The Rich East students were Jakari Lowe-Ellis, Dazzo Wilnewic and Lakeya Woods. The Rich South students were Angel Barns, Brandi Marks and Karlito Richardson. They competed against nearly two dozen Illinois high schools and won the tournament.

"This is a great collaborative effort and a bright moment for Rich Township High School District 227," said Rich East principal, Mark Kramer. "They were alligned today. They combined as a team to win the competition. Great job."

Lowe-Ellis plans on attending Southern Illinois University-Ewardsville, Wilnewic plans on attending North Central College and Woods plans on attending Governor’s State University. The District program is sponsored by Rich East alumnus Taimane Walls, who serves as the College Adviser for the Rich Township schools.
