Rich East Soph Grabs First Win in Cross Country


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Rich East sophomore Dorian Simmons won the his first cross country race as a Rocket last week, with a time of 17:19, in a meet at Crete-Monee High School on Tuesday. The rugged 2.7-mile course went through woods and runners were fighting gusty winds of nearly 30 mph. On the girls side, the Rockets’ Jazzmen Allen (Dorian’s sister) finished third with a time of 22:20.

Two other Rockets were also in the top 10 as Terrance Brinson-Thompson (19:10) and Zachariah Brooks (19:41) also had strong finishes. Crete-Monee and TF South also participated in the meet, scored as a double-dual with Crete-Monee defeating Rich East 22-33 and TF South, 20-35. TF South also defeated Rockets 24-33. Team scores on the girls side, Crete defeated Rich East 19-44. TF South beat the Rockets 19-40 and Crete-Monee defeated TF South 22-35.

The Rockets will participate in the 51st Annual Riverside-Brookfield Invitational on Friday afternoon.
