Rich East Speech Team Tones its Oratory Skills

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Rich East Rocket Speech team has  kicked off its 2014-2015 impressively.

At the season-opening recently at the prestigious Reavis High Tournament, the Rockets soared.

Among the competitors who scored high were: Christian Williams represented the team in Informational Speaking and earned a "five" in one of the three rounds; Newcomer Alexandra Nwarache competed in Prose Speaking and placed at a "five" in all three rounds. This is not common for a novice in her first tournament, so that is of course a very good score!" said Rocket Speech Team Coach Jeannine Seyfried.

Khalilla Onojeta rounded out our ensemble by competing in poetry and scoring another high score

And, at the recent Thornridge Tree Tournament another "very competitive" tournament, Seyfried said, Rockets excelled in the spoken word.

Representing Rich East in this tournament were: Christian Williams-Informational Speaking; Alexandra Nwarache-Prose (Novice); Rasean Hyligar-Original Oratory (Novice); and Jada Nelson (Oratorical Declamation).

The members of our team scored at least one round above a "six" in this tournament; this is a strong showing for a novice competing against seasoned veterans.

"We’re excited and proud with the way they are competing and improving," Seyfried said. "They’re getting excited too!"

The season picks up again on Jan. 10 when we will be competing in the Argo High School tournament. We will then be busy through January culminating with Regionals on Feb. 7, Seyfried said.
